Ferrets' Quarterly Situation Report 22 December 2006
COLD AS HELL AND LONG IN COMING
By our usual reckoning, this sitrep is late by six months and then some. I've skipped the usual June and September reports, owing to the fact that the Squad Select Series results hadn't been announced. Also, we put off a couple of air-races during that time, so all-in-all there just wasn't much to talk about. I'll make up for the long silence now and get us all caught up to just before the new year. May I die the Death of a Thousand Cuts if I ever display such truancy again.
The Ferrets' roster saw some changes over the past few seasons. Iwlf, Elltee, and Enduro came and went like three ships passing in the night. Kidcan and Kimbo found their new home in the Ferrets' den. Twinky is now stationed in Germany and has dropped off the roster for the time being, and Aggie is now on his second tour in Iraq ditto. Weedo (aka J-weed) passed through on his way to who-knows-where. Ferrety greetings, wherever you are. Get home safe.
Ten Ferrets cocked a leg and marked a milestone since March: hearty thanks and a gallon of lymph to HC, Momo, and Humble (6 years service); Doones (5 years); Warone and Troy (4 years); York and Tnymax (1 year); Pennsy and Eltee (6 months service). Thanks for coming.
In score-whoring news, Butterbar Kimbo ran amuck in the WW2 arena, earning himself a pair of Fighter Ace Awards, whilst Capt. Lytnin continued his own rampage, collecting four more FAA's for a grand total of eleven -- two of them in gold, now! Good God! Jump back!
Avengers CO Lutrel was awarded the coveted Legion of Ferret award back in March, for service above and beyond the call of WarBirds. Thanks to Lut and his gang for helping us keep the World War II arena from turning into a ghost-town.
In Squad Select Series action, the Ferrets concluded four series since March: Total Victory (VVS), Return To France (RAF), Red Star Rising (LW), and Mustangs Over Suribachi (IJ) series, garnering a total of seventeen pilot gongs (including some rare and elusive Jap and Soviet honors) and adding two new shiny Squad Bodges to our growing collection. Keep an eye out for magpies.
The Ferrets have run three Ferrets' Challenge Air-Races since March, and the Parrot's Drache has won every single one of them. That makes five victories in total for Drache, who wins the first-ever Medaille d'Or to be presented in this most prestigious of WarBirds racing events. Congratulations are well-deserved - no one prepares quite like Drache, and it shows.
